Our Story
Blue Spruce Horticulture is the brainchild of Stuart Shoemaker and it's roots trace back to stuart's growing up in the '90s in Fort Collins, Colorado. In high school Stuart developed interests in horticulture, entrepreneurship, and also felt a calling to make the world a better place. After studying at Colorado State and working on landscape crews in the summers Stuart saw an opportunity pursue his passions while also making a positive impact on the environment.

Thus Blue Spruce was born in 2017 as a young, enthusiastic enterprise. It started out as many small landscape companies do; one truck and a couple hands on deck. Instead of going the route most young landscaping companies do by offering mowing services Stuart and the crew set themselves apart early on by focusing on specialized garden maintenance, planting design, and garden installation. Each season since the beginning has been an opportunity for growth and learning. Stuart and each of the employees are constantly taking advantage of new training opportunities and certifications to further their expertise in the field.
Five years later Blue Spruce runs two full-time crews during the spring, summer, and fall specializing in both garden maintenance and landscape installation with specific focuses on xeriscaping, turf conversions, native gardens, pollinator habitats, and efficient irrigation systems. We strive to be the foremost experts in real Colorado gardening and landscaping.
